of concept, technique and styles
1982
– 84 |
Worked on a series
of paintings in oil – ‘Nature and Civilisation’ while
Studying, for the degree programme at Chandigarh, India. |
1984
|
Completed a series
of Ink Drawings under the title ‘During the Curfew’, at Malot,
(home town) in the strife-torn Punjab |
1985 |
Worked on a series
based on the theme of ‘The Village’ and produced drawings, paintings
and sculptures with emphasis on the facial expressions of the womenfolk
of Punjab, enclosed in the mud architectural forms and rural landscape.
The theme continued for a decade. |
1986 |
Created a number of
drawings in pastel on the cited theme while staying in Moscow, Russia. |
1988
|
Established a small
studio at Malot and produced sculptures in clay based on ‘The Village’ |
1991 |
Explored new mediums
for sculpture. Carved small sculptures in sand stone of Chamba Valley in
the Himalayas, through self-teaching practice. |
1992 |
Casted sculptures in
bras at the traditional brass casting workshops of Chamba town and learnt
the Lost Wax Process of metal casting |
1995 |
Worked on the theme
‘Our Landscape’ and evolved a typical view of Punjab. The face
of the farmer became a feature of the composition sometimes singly or with
the village. |
1996 |
Visited the Courts
of Law and studied the expressions of the rural people coming to see the
solicitors. Produced a series of drawings/paintings on the cited theme –
The Courts of Law. |
1998 |
Engaged in the study
of the ‘Dual cultural values of the South-Asian Settlers in UK’
and created series of drawings, paintings and sculptures. |
2004 |
Continuing the cited
theme with a new series of paintings ‘The Roots’ |
